COBRA Spotlight: Creighton Thicke-Rattray
Creighton… A name everyone knows and loves in the COBRA Masters Swimming community. His commitment to swimming is contagious and he is always the loudest in the stands cheering on his teammates. Creighton’s dedication to swimming is evident as he is normally the first in the pool for all practices and the last out. This season alone Creighton has competed Regionally, Provincially, Nationally, and Internationally in Masters Swim meets with consecutive podium finishes as well as many personal bests. He is proud to represent the sport of Masters swimming.
Some of his accomplishments are the following this season;
Semi-Serious Meet- 5 Golds and 1 Silver
I.M. Fast- 4 Silvers
Susan Douglas Memorial- 3 Golds, 1 Silver
Ontario Masters Provincial Championships- 2 Golds, 4 Silvers, 2 Bronze
Canadian Masters Championships- 4 Top 5 place finishes
FINA World Masters Championships, KYUSHU 2023
- 100m Free (27th of 87) - 56.8 (equal SC)
- 200m Free (17th of 40) - 2:09.5
- 50m Fly (33rd of 75) - 28.2 (faster than SC)
- 50m Free (38th of 124) - 25.8 (faster than SC)
- 200m IM (22nd of 41) - 2:27.2 (faster than SC)
On top of his stellar performance inside the pool he was also making waves outside of it too by competing alongside his fellow teammates in numerous Triathlons.
Creighton’s support of his team is unwavering. During this year’s Swim-a-Thon, Creighton was a leader in the fundraising effort.
Out of the water he also uses his marketing and editing skills to help with Cobra Masters announcements across social platforms to continually advocate for the sport of Masters swimming.
